HONOLULU, Aug. 27, 2024 (11:30 a.m.) - Hawaiian Electric continues to make significant progress toward restoring power to the remaining customers who were impacted by Tropical Storm Hone.

Crews are working to restore a few remaining customers impacted by the storm on Maui and Oahu.

As of 8 a.m. today, about 248 Hawaii Island customers remain without power. Crews are continuing to respond to scattered, isolated outages in the following areas:

  • Papaikou and Pepeekeo
  • Hawaiian Beaches and Hawaiian Shores
  • Ainaloa Subdivision
  • Nanawale Estates, Leilani Estates, Kalapana and Seaview Estates
  • Mountain View, Glenwood, Royal Hawaiian Estates and Fern Forest
  • Volcano Village, Mauna Loa Estates, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Volcano Golf Course Subdivision
  • Waipunahina, Paauilo and Kalopa Mauka and Makai
  • Ahualoa to Paauhau

Customers who do not live in these areas are urged to call the Hawaii Island Trouble Line at 808-969-6666 if they are still without electricity.

Hawaiian Electric is also collaborating with the County of Hawaii to provide critical information and resources at County shelters at Keaau Armory at Shipman Park and Pahoa Neighborhood Facility at William "Billy" Kenoi District Park. Both shelters are pet-friendly and will provide Wi-Fi connectivity. Company representatives will be at the shelters from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
