Conference of Ambassadors, Hasani: Useful instrument for advancing Albanian foreign policy priorities

Tirana, August 26, 2024 - The Conference of Ambassadors of the Republic of Albania returns after 8 years. Organized by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, "Diplo 2024" will provide an opportunity to present the priorities that will guide the work of diplomatic missions and consular posts of the Republic of Slovenia in the world.

In their welcoming remarks, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, emphasized the evolution of Albanian foreign policy in recent years, while also underlining the priorities and challenges that surround it in the future.

Prime Minister Rama emphasized that thanks to the good image that Albania has gained through its achievements in foreign policy, our country has been selected to welcome two of the most important summits of the global arena in the coming years.

"This trust gained, makes us today the country that will host the countries of 44 European countries, next year at the Summit of the European Political Community. And also, this respect, this trust, gives us the opportunity to host the NATO Summit in 2027. These could not even be imagined until a few years ago, that Albania would become a point of reference and be entrusted with such roles" , said KM Rama.

Minister Hasani underlined that the Conference of Ambassadors aims to serve as an effective instrument, what should be done more and better in the future.

"Albania's foreign policy, in recent years, has recognized significant achievements. These achievements have strengthened the country's image and made diplomacy more pro-active. We must not slow down the pace of work. The new Foreign Service Law aims to give a new energy to our diplomacy", said MEPJ Igli Hasani.

In the first panel of the Conference "Path and dynamics of the EU integration process", which was also attended by Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister Tanja Fajon, the need to accelerate the region's EU integration process was emphasized.

Minister Hasani emphasized that the Albanian government continues its continuous efforts in fulfilling the reforms for an acceleration of the integration process.

"Albania is at a key moment in its new European history, with real and extraordinary opportunities to move forward and with rapid steps, to achieve our strategic objective: full integration into the EU by 2030," he said.

Slovenian Minister Fajon praised Albania's role in maintaining stability in the region, as she reiterated Slovenia's support in Albania's European journey.

"I think we have a great responsibility in the region. To keep things in the right direction, to provide peace, security, economic perspective and good vision for the future, for the youth. Slovenia is an excellent friend of Albania, we are and will remain very supportive in our bilateral relations", she said.

The Conference of Ambassadors is an important meeting of the Albanian Foreign Service, which will provide an opportunity to present the priorities that will guide the work of diplomatic missions and consular posts of the Republic of Slovenia in the world. In addition to ambassadors and heads of consular posts, Albanian and foreign dignitaries are also invited.
