Officers Recovered a Firearm and a Stolen Moped in Dorchester

At about 10:28 PM, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested a 17-year-old Juvenile Male, and Jeremiah Charles, 18, of Abington, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 1604 Dorchester Avenue for a report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a victim's moped was recently stolen, and that the victim observed two suspects with it at a gas station. The victim approached the suspects about his stolen moped, and one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him. The suspects then ran from the area towards Bourneside Street.

Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force were able to apprehend one of the suspects in the area of Park Street and Marlowe Street. Officers continued to canvass the area, and located the second suspect laying under a parked vehicle on Bourneside Street. Officers searched the flight path of the suspect and recovered a firearm. The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 22 with one round in the chamber and thirteen rounds in the magazine.

The 17-year-old Juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Delinquent to wit; Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Threats to Commit a Crime.

Charles was placed under arrest and charged with Trespassing, Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Threat to Commit a Crime.

Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
