Volunteers sought for VCCS DEIC Council

If you're interested in promoting an inclusive culture across our system where every community member is valued, acknowledged, and accepted, here's your chance: the VCCS Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Culture is seeking new members and there's an August 30 deadline for college presidents and agency leaders to make their nominations.

Interested parties should contact their college presidents or agency leaders, who will nominate individuals to fill vacancies on the VCCS' Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Council.

The vacancies have been created due to term limits, resignations or VCCS departures. A new seat, a religion stakeholder, has been added to the DEIC Council. For this position, the DEIC Council seeks nominations of faculty members who have taught religion as a part of their courses. This position is charged with helping to improve our understanding of the impact of religion on the workforce and classroom, not with proselytizing a specific religion or belief.

The DEIC Council meets up to three times a year, with committees meeting as needed.

Here are the openings on the DEIC Council:

  • two students
  • Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander affinity stakeholder
  • Disability Community affinity stakeholder
