HONOLULU, Aug. 28, 2024 - Hawaiian Electric crews will transfer equipment to a newly installed utility pole at the corner of Punahou and S. King streets on Friday, Aug. 30, impacting traffic in McCully from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The equipment transfer will complete an emergency pole replacement held overnight earlier in the week.

The work will close a section of the southbound lane of Punahou between S. King and Philip streets fronting a Hele gas station and Jack in the Box restaurant, with traffic contraflowed. The gas station and fast-food restaurant will remain open but the driveway nearest S. King will be temporary blocked during the work. Street parking also will be restricted in the work zone.

Safety signs and traffic cones will mark the job site and guide motorists to the contraflow lane. Flagmen will direct traffic, as needed. Motorists should plan ahead for traffic delays or use alternate routes.
