PennDOT Completes Route 32 (River Road) Bridge Replacement Project, Reopens Roadway in Plumstead Township

08/16/2024

King of Prussia, PA- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that major construction has been completed on a $965,000 project to replace the Route 32 (River Road) bridge over Tributary of Delaware River in Plumstead Township, Bucks County.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor replaced the existing 101-year-old single-span concrete slab bridge with a 22-foot-wide reinforced concrete box culvert. A structure mounted guiderail barrier, as well as approach guiderail, was installed and painted brown. In addition, utility relocation, debris removal, and roadway embankment repairs took place.

Immediately following the closure of the bridge during the remnants of Hurricane Ida in 2021, temporary repairs were made to the state highway and the streambed in order to reopen the road as quickly as possible for the public. Approximately 2,238 motorists travel over the structure each day.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
