Black Caucus Hosts Virtual Meeting of 2,000 ‘Black Arkansans for Kamala and Raises $13,500 for Arkansas Democrats and VP Harris Campaign

The Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus announced the success of last night's virtual meeting, "Black Arkansans for Kamala," which raised an impressive $13,500 to support Arkansas Democrats and Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential campaign.

The event, attended by more than 1,900 supporters, featured passionate speeches and a strong focus on key issues facing the Black community across Arkansas.

"After 44,000 Black women like me joined a call with Win With Black Women and then other groups followed, we knew the Arkansas Democratic Black Caucus needed to do it too," said ADBC President Debrah Mitchell. "In five short days, more than 2,200 people registered and 1,900 joined the call to show our support for Vice President Harris! With this energy and mobilization, we win races from the County Courthouse to the State House to the White House on November 5th."

Over the two-hour zoom call, grassroots donations totaled $13,604.16 from 198 contributors. The call is the largest virtual fundraiser for the Democratic Party of Arkansas since the 2020 Democratic National Convention, which was held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We can turn the tide in Arkansas and get what Arkansans deserve: real representation and real leadership. Donate, vote, and keep working," said Dr. Chris Jones, the 2022 Democratic gubernatorial nominee.

Scott Hamilton, CEO of the Arkansas Urban League, delivered a powerful message emphasizing the importance of "defending democracy, demanding diversity, and defeating poverty."

"The winning formula for Arkansas Democrats in November will be Harris, our state & local candidates and targeted mobilization to engage our young Democrats voters in every district across the state. We saw that enthusiasm last night," said DPA Vice Chair Jannie Cotton.

Brenda Stallings, Esq., provided closing remarks, stating, "America can do better than bitter, bizarre, and backward convicted felon Donald Trump.
