WSPD: Vehicular Hijacking and Armed Robbery

The WSPD responded to a reported aggravated vehicle carjacking and armed robbery on Sunday morning at 6 am. Read the press release here or below.

The WSPD would like to remind residents that carjackings are on the rise in Cook and DuPage County. Here are some tips to help you stay safe:

• Be Aware: Pay attention to your surroundings.
• Lock Up: Keep vehicles locked when inside.
• Stay Focused: Limit distractions such as cell phones, which can make you less aware.
• Keep Your Distance: Leave space between yourself and the vehicle in front of you so that if needed, you can exit and drive away.
• Trust Your Instincts: if you feel uncomfortable, remove yourself from the situation immediately.
