UW Oshkosh alumni Class Notes: August 2024

'79 Henry "Butch" Blanke (LS), of Black Earth, won the unofficial Yahtzee World Championship, defeating '80 Lori Rooker (N), of Sheboygan. The tournament began nearly 50 years ago in Clemens Residence Hall.

'80 Edward Cancio (EHS) and '87 (MSE), of Sylvania, Ohio, has been featured in Marquis Who's Who in America, a biographical source for thousands of researchers, journalists, librarians and executive search firms from around the world. Cancio is a distinguished associate professor at the University of Toledo where he has dedicated over 15 years to advancing the field of special education. Cancio's career spans over 40 years and he has made significant contributions through his research on stress and burn out among special education teachers.

'94 Gwen Weithaus (B), of Menomonee Falls, is chief compliance officer for Cetera Investment Services. Weithaus was previously vice president of wealth risk and controls at Northwestern Mutual and has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.

'02 Mike Mathy (LS), is the executive director of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association. Mathy previously served as executive director of the Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association and Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies.

'04 Troy Youngbauer (MBA), of Neenah, was promoted to chief operations officer for Galloway Company where he has been senior director of operations for the past seven years. Youngbauer previously spent 20 years in operations and supply chain leadership with Kimberly-Clark Corporation.

'12 Kyle Tomlinson (LS) and '19 Mya Guttenberg (EHS), of Sun Prairie, were married in July.

'15 Beth O'Laire (MBA), of Oakfield, is the vice president of human resources operations for McLeod Health. O'Laire was previously the market chief human resources executive with Ascension in Milwaukee.

'16 Kathryn Golab (LS), of New Berlin, presented at the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) joint annual meeting in Pittsburgh. Golab, a clinical laboratory scientist, discussed surprise diagnoses in the hematology laboratory.

'16 Kyle Resch (EHS), of Whitelaw, is the principal of Valders Elementary School.

'17 Aarron Van Buren (LS), of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is the head coach of D1 Training Kalamazoo. Van Buren was previously the strength and conditioning coordinator at Gobles High School.

'19 Payton (Campbell) Lehnherr (EHS), of Hortonville, is the workforce development coordinator for the Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation. Lehnherr returned to Oshkosh after working in the county mental health and justice treatment field for five years. Lehnherr also runs RISE Volleyball Labs, a volleyball training business, and serves as a Girl Scouts leader.
