Invest 97L August 1st Evening Update - Residents and Visitors should remain vigilant and monitor current forecast track

​​Alachua County Emergency Management continues to monitor the tropical system in the Atlantic.

The forecast models are still very uncertain, and it is still too early to know the timing, landfall location, intensity, or local impacts. Forecasts for this storm range anywhere from Alachua County experiencing slightly higher than normal rainfall to significant rainfall impacts of 20 or more inches over several days. Until the storm becomes better organized, the continued uncertainty will remain with the forecast.

Alachua County residents and visitors should take steps early to secure property in areas at high risk for flooding. Homes and other properties in flood-prone areas should be assessed to determine if there are ways to protect the property from flooding danger.

Monitor the US National Weather Service website for the latest storm information, including anticipated local impacts. Visit the latest National Weather Service briefing packet. It is updated regularly.
