PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update - Week of November 18, 2024

Uniontown, PA - Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of November 18. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Box repair:

  • Route 819 in Mount Pleasant Township

Brushing:

  • Various routes in Unity and Derry townships

Cleaning inlets:

  • Various routes in Derry and Pleasant Unity townships

Cleaning tail ditches:

  • Route 2033 (Bethel Church Road) in Cook and Unity townships

Patching:

  • Route 51 in Rostraver Township
  • Route 66 in Washington Township
  • Route 136 (West Newton Road) in Rostraver Township
  • Various routes countywide

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 22 in Salem Township
  • Route 981 in Salem Township

Pipe installation:

  • Route 4048 (Melwood Road) in Allegheny Township
  • Route 4061 (Washington Road) in Washington Township

Pipe insulation:

  • Route 4033 (Trafford Road) in Murrysville Borough

Shoulder stabilization:

  • Route 130 in Cook and Unity townships
  • Route 711 in Cook and Unity townships
  • Route 1055 (Hannastown Road) in Salem Township​

Sweeping:

  • Route 119 (Connellsville-New Stanton Road) in various townships
  • Various routes countywide

Tail ditching:

  • Route 2043 (Darlington Road) in Ligonier Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed and update signs, and address work orders on various state routes countywide.

PennDOT has a toll-free number-1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)-for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
