Charleston, WV- Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV) released the following statement ahead of Veterans Day.
"On this Veterans Day, I am proud to honor our Veterans who have sacrificed so much to keep our nation safe. Since the founding of our country, our fellow Americans have defended our democracy and fought for our freedoms. These brave Americans, as well as their families, deserve our deepest appreciation and respect. As a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, the Senate Armed Services Committee, as well as the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue working to expand the availability of healthcare, workforce training opportunities and affordable housing for Veterans and their families.
Gayle and I encourage everyone to please thank a Veteran this weekend. President Abraham Lincoln once said, 'Any nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure.' Freedom is not free, and it is our Veterans' commitment to liberty and patriotism that makes me proud to call myself an American. May God continue to bless our Veterans and may He bless these United States and the great state of West Virginia."
