OU to serve as a host site for We Will Vote Michigan event

Oakland University's Department of Public and Environmental Wellness (PEW) is a partner organization of Thrive Through Civic Health: We Will Vote, a nonpartisan initiative that seeks to increase voter participation among health sector workers.

As part of its involvement in the initiative, PEW will take part in a We Will Vote Michigan event, which will feature key health leaders, including the Michigan Secretary of State and other public health and health care professionals. Set for October 10 at 3 p.m., the event will include speeches at several host sites, with PEW serving as a host site representing Southeast Michigan.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the event in room 2045 of the Human Health Building on OU's campus. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson will speak at the Human Health Building, with her remarks broadcast via Zoom to partnering organizations across the state.

"Voting is a fundamental right and a crucial civic duty that impacts not only each of us individually, but also the communities in which we live, work, and play," said Dr. Caress Dean, associate professor, director and chair of OU's Department of Public and Environmental Wellness. "The decisions made through voting shape our society and have a direct impact on our lives. Join us in increasing awareness of the importance of voting and making your voice heard. Your vote matters!"
