Kenosha, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside will hold its Fall 2024 Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 14 in the De Simone Arena in the Sports and Activity Center. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. with doors opening at 9 a.m. The ceremony will honor more than 400 graduates and will be followed by a reception in the Petretti Fieldhouse.
This semester's commencement speaker will be Dr. Joan M. Prince, a member of the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents. Dr. Prince is the president and CEO of Executive Strategies Elite, LLC, a global consulting firm that works with top executive leaders on their most pressing issues.
Prince, a Milwaukee native, was the first African American to hold undergraduate and graduate degrees in clinical laboratory medicine with a specialty in flow cytometry and hematology and a doctorate in medical science education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, from which she has received four degrees. She served as the vice chancellor of global inclusion and engagement and as an associate professor in biomedical sciences at her alma mater from 2000 to 2021.
In 2012, Dr. Prince was nominated by former President Barack Obama to the U.N. General Assembly as a public delegate with the honorary rank of ambassador. In this role, she occupied the U.S. seat and worked with global leaders, U.N. committees, and related organizations, and also delivered policy statements on behalf of the United States to the International Board of Nations.
In addition, UW-Parkside will recognize three Outstanding Graduate Award winnersand one Chancellor's Award Recipient during the ceremony. The honorees are:

Liam Simpson | Communication | Kenosha, WI
Chancellor's Award Recipient Trever Schneider will address his fellow graduates. Schneider majored in biological sciences and minored in chemistry for pre-health professionals. He was named to both the dean's and provost's lists every semester and served as the president of the molecular biology student organization.
Schneider was also active in undergraduate research. He presented his independent research focused on biochemistry and molecular biology at the state-wide Research in the Rotunda event as well as at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.Schneider is an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. He also actively volunteers at homeless shelters, participating in cleanup efforts, and assisting with church events.
He is a Certified Nursing Assistant and has completed a professional internship in a healthcare facility as well as worked at an assisted living center. After graduation, Trever plans to attend medical school with the ultimate goal of becoming a doctor.
