BRAMPTON, ON -The City of Brampton will observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Monday, September 30, in accordance with Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Call to Action #80. The City also recognizes the experience and legacy of residential schools and honours all children on Orange Shirt Day.
City Hall and all City facilities will be closed on September 30. All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations and Security Services will continue to operate as usual to support the community.
The City of Brampton is encouraging members of the public to reflect, learn and participate in scheduled events in recognition of lives lost, the survivors and their families affected by residential schools and actions that can be taken towards reconciliation.
Service Brampton
Brampton Transit
Brampton Transit will operate on a regular weekday schedule on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Our Clark and Sandalwood facilities will be closed on Monday, September 30, including our Lost and Found.
Customer Service counters at the terminals will be open. Our Contact Centre is available to assist you from 7 am to 9 pm at 905.874.2999
Brampton Parks
All Brampton recreational trails, playgrounds and parks, including off-leash dog parks, remain open on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
Brampton Recreation
All recreation facilities will be operating under regular business hours on September 30, with no impacts to registered programming.
Brampton Animal Services
The Brampton Animal Shelter will be closed on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. Animal Control will be on the road from 8 am to 6:30 pm and will continue to respond to emergency calls outside of these hours.
Brampton Library
All Brampton Library branches will be closed on September 30.
