Closures county-wide in preparation for Hurricane Milton

Expected Local Impacts to Glynn County: The NWS has coastal Glynn County under a Tropical Storm Warning with inland areas under a Tropical Storm Watch. A Flood Watch is in effect for portions of coastal Georgia, including Glynn County.

Wind: Glynn County may experience hurricane force gusts ( 60-74 mph )along the coast and could experience strong tropical storm-force winds (39-57mph) throughout the county. Earliest arrival of tropical storm-force winds now expected between 7am and 1pm Thursday.

Rainfall & Flooding: Heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding.

Storm Surge: Coastal areas should brace for potential storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground level (AGL), especially in areas prone to flooding (e.g., those affected by hurricanes Matthew, Irma, and Nicole).

Marine Conditions: Dangerous conditions will affect coastal waters starting late Wednesday night.

• College of Coastal Georgia: On-line classes only on Thursday; regular scheduleto resume Friday.
• Glynn County Schools: Closed Thursday & Friday; teachersreturn to work Friday ( Teacher Work Day)

• Glynn County Health Department- Clinic and Environmental Health: closed Thursday, open Friday. If you have an appointment, you will be contacted to reschedule.
• The Jekyll Island Authoritywill open offices, amenities, and facilities under reduced operations for Thursday, October 10, as follows:

Jekyll Island Guest Information Center (24-HR gate service will remain)

Jekyll Island Tennis Center Closed

Jekyll Island Golf Club Courses Closed

(Pro Shop open 11 AM - 5 PM)

Mini Golf & Bike Rental open 11 AM - 8 PM

Jekyll Island Administrative Offices will be open with limited receptionist services only.

Normal operations are expected to resume for all JIA offices, amenities, and facilities on Friday, October 11, unless otherwise communicated.

• Georgia Power:priority is to keep utility repair crews in Georgia to deal with the potential impact of Milton before sending repair crews to assistin Florida.
• Evacuation impact:traffic on I-95 is increasingbut moving smoothly; Glynn County Sheriff's Office reports particular buildup in the Exit 29 area; travelers can expect lines at area gas stations.
• Marshes of Glynn Librarieswill close at 4pm on Wednesday. All programming this week - including all story times, SSI yoga, SSI legos, Strummers practice, BWK tai chi, BWK sip and stitch, ESL, BWK scrabble, the silent book club, and genealogy - are cancelled beginning Wednesday and will resume Mon. 10/14/24.
