Oracle Academy delivered a 'Town and Gown' workshop, themed 'Emerging Career Opportunities and Certifications in Cloud-Based Applications and Infrastructure,' on April 17, 2024 at the prestigious Covenant University campus, Ota, Nigeria.
The hybrid event was attended by over 200 students who joined in-person and mentors who joined virtually. It was graced by speakers from Oracle and Covenant University as highlighted below:
Danny Gooris gave the opening remarks to kickstart the event by thanking participants for attending. In his presentation, he talked about Oracle cloud-based applications, emerging career opportunities in Oracle Cloud-based applications, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure professional certifications currently available to students and teachers.
Thereafter, Bekere Amassoma presented on Oracle Academy, which she explained advances technology education around the world to increase knowledge, innovation, skills development, and diversity in technology fields. She explained how Oracle Academy provides access to the latest tools and technologies to help educators increase student success and develop career-ready skills in the era of cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science.
Olagoke Orija delivered an engaging session which included presentations and hands-on lab training on Oracle Cloud and Oracle APEX, the industry-leading low code app development platform that is easy to learn and get started on.
After the presentations, there was a panel session anchored by Yakubu Julia and Esele Ajonye Joshua, students of the Department of Computer Science, Covenant University, alongside Bekere Amassoma. The panel session discussion was around the theme 'Navigating the Evolving Technology Landscape for a Successful IT Career' where Oracle mentors Olagoke, Adeola, Jeffry, and Elochukwu answered questions posed by the students. The session was both enlightening and interactive, and we thank all our participants for this successful event.
