Residents Can Rake Leaves to Street as Curbside Leaf Collection Approaches

With curbside fall leaf collection coming soon, the City of Midland encourages residents in all areas to begin raking leaves to the street at this time.

Leaf collection will begin on Monday, October 28 and will start in Area B, then proceed to Areas C, D, and A.

Please observe the following guidelines when preparing leaves for collection:

• Leave one foot of gutter space between the leaf pile and the curb to allow a path for water to properly drain from the street;
• Avoid placing brush, sticks, branches, or refuse into curbside leaf piles, as this creates a safety hazard for crews and equipment
• Place fall yard waste (sticks, pumpkins, etc.) in yard bags or bins at the curb on
  refuse collection day. Annual bin stickers or 60-cent bag stickers are not required through the end of the 2024 collection season.

Residents on the following major streets should rake leaves onto the outlawn between the sidewalk and curb in front of their homes: Ashman Street from the Circle to Main, Bay City Road, Buttles Street, Eastman Avenue, George and Cronkright Streets between Indian and Ellsworth, Indian Street, Isabella Street, Lyon Road, Main Street, Patrick Road from Indian to Waldo, Waldo Avenue from Bay City Road to Henry, Rodd Street, and Saginaw Road.

Residents who live on a street that is currently under construction should also rake their leaves onto their outlawns until construction is complete.
