OSBC Earns Accreditation for Money Service Business by Conference of State Bank Supervisors

The Office of the State Bank Commissioner in Kansas (OSBC) is pleased to announce the Consumer and Mortgage Lending (CML) Division has earned accreditation for its Money Services Businesses (MSB) regulatory program from the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS), Washington, DC.

The CSBS Accreditation Program involves an in-depth review of an agency's policies, procedures, and operations to determine if it meets the standard set forth by the Performance Standards Committee.

The accreditation is indicative of the high standards and professionalism the OSBC's Consumer and Mortgage Lending Division demonstrates in its supervision of money transmitters doing business in Kansas.

Bank Commissioner, David Herndon, said "The MSB accreditation of our CML Division clearly demonstrates that the Kansas OSBC is held in high regard by our industry peers and all the regulated financial businesses serving Kansas. The OSBC is a premier state agency, staffed by knowledgeable and committed professionals so this designation is absolutely warranted."

OSBC's Banking Division first earned accreditation in 1995 and has maintained its accreditation since. The CML Division earned Mortgage accreditation in its first attempt to be so recognized in 2021. Each accreditation is valid for five years and must pass a comprehensive examination process to maintain accreditation.

The Conference of State Bank Supervisors is the nationwide organization of banking regulators from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It has, for more than a century, given state supervisors a national forum to coordinate supervision of their regulated industries and to develop regulatory policy.
