Tioga County Public Health 2024 Team Member of the Third Quarter

Congratulations to Al Knapp for being named the 2024 Team Member of the Third Quarter for Tioga County Public Health!

Al has worked for Tioga County Public Health for over 18 years! As a member of our Environmental Health team, Al wears many hats. He is a certified lead risk assessor and food inspector. He is especially busy in the summer months, inspecting summer camps and meal sites. Al also works in the rabies prevention program by completing animal bite investigations and volunteering at rabies vaccination clinics. Most recently, Al's primary focus has been on inspecting and designing septic systems. When Al was hired, the septic program was a new program, so he was instrumental in developing the processes and procedures. He has had the opportunity to begin training our new technician, who just so happens to be his son! It is full circle, how he started his Public Health career, what he is back doing again, and now preparing the literal next generation.

Al is very detailed oriented, and he brings years of experience and expertise to the table. You can tell Al takes a lot of pride in the work he does, as he is always eager to learn and share new information.

Outside of being an excellent Sanitarian, Al also has many unique hobbies and interests that we all love hearing about. His hobbies include conducting science experiments on twinkies, making his own honey, and even writing his own novel!
