8/1/24 Aggravated UUW/Poss. of Cannabis/Warrants

Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at approximately 8:53 p.m. Peoria Police observed a wanted suspect parking a vehicle in front of a residence in the 1600 block of N. Great Oak.

Officers immediately approached the vehicle and made contact with the wanted subject identified as 26-year-old Kennie A. Young.


During the arrest officers located a firearm under Young's seat. Police also located an additional firearm next to a male juvenile (17 years old) who was in the backseat of the vehicle. The juvenile was also in possession of cannabis.

Both males were transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes.

Young was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, and Possession of Ammunition by a Felon.

Young was also arrested for Peoria County Warrants for Aggravated Battery and Domestic Battery (22CF1041), and Unlawful Possession of Weapon by Felon (22CF458).

Young was also arrested for the following incidents:

#24-6869: Domestic Battery and Interference with Reporting of Domestic Violence

#24-4568: Criminal Damage to Property

#24-2171: Motor Vehicle Theft

#24-2172: Criminal Damage to Property

#24-2158: Domestic Battery, Criminal Damage to Property, and Resisting Police

#24-2129: Burglary to Motor Vehicle

#23-22192: Criminal Trespass to Residence

#23-10405: Residential Burglary

#23-9656: Criminal Damage to Property and Assault

#23-8497: Home Invasion and Domestic Battery

Young was also wanted by the Peoria County Sherriff's Office for Domestic Battery, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Endangering the Life and Health of a Child, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, No FOID, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Young was transported to the Peoria County Jail.

The juvenile was arrested for Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, and Possession of a Handgun Under 21. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
