NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Long Range Shooters of Alaska LLC

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Long Range Shooters of Alaska LLC

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35211

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Located nearby Hurricane Gulch, just east of the Parks Highway milepost 174

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Sections 12 and 13, Township 22 South, Range 11 West, Fairbanks Meridian

Sections 7 18 and 17, Township 22 South, Range 10 West, Fairbanks Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The applicant, Long Range Shooters of Alaska, is requesting a one-year Land Use Permit to host an NRL Hunter Shooting Competition near Hurricane Gulch for a weekend in late June 2025. This field-style precision rifle match would have 20 steel targets at between 100 yards and 1000 yards with appropriate backstops and Range Safety Officers. Participant access will be on foot, with some pop-up canopies, port-o-pottys, and one party tent. Crew will access sites via ATVs on established trails. Courses of fire will be closed off for safety purposes, but trail access through the area will not be obstructed.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:
Start: June 19, 2025
End: June 23, 2025

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: October 10, 2024

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501-3577 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above.
