The Fishing Is Great in Stafford County!

Stafford offers multiple opportunities for fishing throughout the county via Stafford County property. Anglers can drop a line at Abel Lake Reservoir, Aquia Landing Park, Curtis Lake, Lake Mooney and the Rappahannock River via the Little Falls boat ramp. All fishermen must have a current fishing license except those 16 and under. Find out more about opportunities below.

Abel Lake Reservoir - 665 Kellogg Mill Road

The reservoir boasts a stocked fishing area and a boat ramp with parking - for boats with electric motors only. It is open from dawn to dusk.

Aquia Landing Park - 2846 Brooke Road

Aquia Landing provides nearly a quarter-mile of recreational beach on the Aquia River. It has limited parking.

Curtis Park - 58 Jesse Curtis Lane

Curtis Lake is open from dawn to dusk. It has a public boat landing for boats with electric motors only. The Stony Hill Road portion of the lake has fishing pier access.

Lake Mooney - 495 Greenbank Drive

This 520-acre lake is stocked with fish: largemouth bass, channel catfish, red-ear sunfish, bluegill, and black crappie. The boat ramp is for boats with electric motors only and is open from dawn to dusk. Keep in mind that there is limited parking.

Little Falls Boat Ramp - 952 Kings Highway

The boat ramp is located on the Rappahannock River next to Stafford's Little Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant access road off Route 3 East. It is always open and free of charge.
