Eluding Suspect Arrested After Running Over Terminators and Hitting Pole, Cruiser

On Oct. 31 at about 10:43 a.m., Seattle police in a cruiser equipped with a license plate reader spotted a parked vehicle related to a previous eluding call in Auburn and two eluding incidents in Seattle. Officers saw the suspect, a man in his 50s to 60s, sleeping in the car and prepared to do a high-risk stop. Officers deployed Terminator devices under the back tires. Those were successful as the suspect woke up and drove over the devices, flattening both rear tires. The suspect then drove through a red light and lost control. He hit other vehicles and a wall. He also hit a light pole.

Seattle Police Officers then pulled up to the suspect's vehicle to pin him in. The suspect then hit and damaged a patrol vehicle.

Once he realized he couldn't go anywhere, he surrendered and was taken into custody. A drug recognition expert was called to the scene.

During this investigation, southbound 5th Avenue became blocked as well as eastbound traffic and northbound traffic on 4th Avenue.

The Seattle Fire Department was called to the scene to check on the suspect who was complaining of chest pain. He was determined to be OK. No one was injured.

SDOT was also called to the scene due to the damaged light pole.
