Summer music concerts in Berkeley parks: jazz, big band, funk and soul, kids’ music, and Latin

Music series from May 11 through August 10 offers a selection of music with events and activities for people of all ages.

Join us in our beloved Berkeley parks for summer music concerts that pair different genres for various ages.

The six-event Saturday afternoon series begins with live jazz vocalists at the Berkeley Rose Garden for Mother's Day and goes on to feature sing-a-longs for toddlers at Virginia-McGee Totland, Funk and Soul at Ohlone Park, Big Band Orchestra at the hillside John Hinkel Amphitheater, and Latin beats at James Kenney Park.

We have music for everyone in neighborhoods throughout Berkeley. Some events will include other activities, food, or guest speakers. Use our event page to get more details and come join us!

Summer music series runs May 11- August 10

Our Music in the Parks series features kids' activities, local music, and entertainment.

  • Saturday, May 11, 2 pm - 5 pm at the Berkeley Rose Garden: Mother's Day Hats and High Tea
    Jazz vocalists: Jackie Ryan, Darlene Coleman, Rhonda Benin, Omega Rae. See details about free transportation, food, guest speakers, activities on the event page.
  • Saturday, June 8, 2 pm - 4 pm at Virginia-McGee Totland: Lively sing-alongs at Tot Fest
    Andy Z and Happily Ever Laughter Fairies
  • Saturday, June 22, 2 pm - 4 pm at John Hinkel Park Amphitheater: Big Band Orchestra
    Tony Corman's Morchestra
  • Saturday, July 13, 2 pm - 5 pm at Ohlone Park Softball Field: Funk and Soul
  • Saturday, July 27, 2 pm - 4 pm: Kids Jam at San Pablo Park
    Shake It Booty Band and Frank Vogel Magician. This energetic cover music is suitable for children 10 and under.
  • Saturday, August 10, 2 pm - 5 pm at James Kenney Park: Latin Fest

Come early to pick out your spot. No alcohol or controlled substances are allowed. Bring your blankets or low back chairs to enjoy the music.

Please consider taking a car-free route to the parks, such as biking, using a shared bike or scooter, carpooling, or taking AC Transit lines.
