Nairobi County Talent Skills Development and Care set to disburse Scholarships to Nairobi students

MOMBASA: 25th July 2024

Chief Officer Nairobi City County Ahmed Abdi confirmed this during an intensive sorting of the Cheques for the upcoming disbursement of Ward bursaries, scheduled for next week. In his statement, Abdi highlighted the significance of these bursaries in supporting the education of underprivileged students across the city.

The Chief Officer said "Education is the most powerful tool we have to shape our society, lift our communities, and empower individuals to achieve their dreams. However, we are acutely aware that many families in our county face significant financial challenges that can hinder their children's educational pursuits. It is our responsibility as a county administration to bridge this gap and ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their financial circumstances."

Mr. Abdi Said that next week, the disbursement of bursary Cheques to beneficiaries across all wards in Nairobi City County will begin with each of the 85 wards getting a total of 2.5 million shillings. He emphasized that the initiative is part of the county's broader efforts to promote equitable access to education and alleviate the financial burdens on families struggling to meet school-related expenses.

He said Governor Sakaja's administration has taken stringent measures to ensure that the disbursement process is transparent, efficient, and accountable. We have established rigorous verification procedures to ensure that the funds reach the intended beneficiaries without delay. This transparency is crucial in maintaining the trust of our citizens and upholding the integrity of this vital program.

Director City Education Ms. Ruth Owuor expressed gratitude for the synergy between finance and education in the exercise. She said "Bursaries and Scholarships give hope to Nairobi children and therefore touches many households. She urged parents and guardians to ensure that all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time. Your engagement is crucial to the success of this initiative and to the educational development of our children. Submitting the required documentation in time, reports, fee structures and receipts to allow for easy processing."

The team included Deputy Director Education Peter Miano, Raphael Kinyungu Deputy Director Revenue Veronica Kalekye, Assistant Directors Irene Ndanga, and Accountant Rogers Mukami among others.
