Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD) for International Security Affairs, Dr. Celeste Wallander, departed on November 27 to Montenegro and Germany for high-level defense consultations with key European partners and Allies.
While in Montenegro, Dr. Wallander will participate in the annual U.S.-Adriatic Charter (A5) Defense Ministerial with representatives from Member and Observer nations: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia. They will discuss regional security issues in the Western Balkans, emerging security threats across Europe, and multilateral defense cooperation.
While in Germany, she will attend the Berlin Security Conference, where she will join a panel discussion on NATO's Strategic Concept, as well as meet with German government officials on European and bilateral security topics, including the United States' and Germany's continuing support for Ukraine. Dr. Wallander is also scheduled to visit the main U.S. military training base at Grafenwoehr, Germany, and to attend the Munich Strategy Retreat near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
