Jack Gagnon, Internal Audit Supervisor with the Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM), has been honored with the prestigious Internal Audit Award of Excellence.

The annual award is presented by the North Carolina Council of Internal Auditing to a state government internal auditor or internal audit team who make extraordinary contributions to the field, demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.

"Jack exemplifies the true spirit of teamwork and leadership. His positive attitude, dedication to excellence make him a standout member of our team," said OSBM's Deputy Budget Director Anca Grozav. "He consistently delivers exceptional customer service, and his contributions, whether leading initiatives or supporting colleagues, have made a lasting impact on our department. I'm proud to see him receive this well-deserved recognition."

Among his many accomplishments, Jack successfully took over management of a statewide internship program that places students in internal audit offices at agencies and universities. He has volunteered for peer review teams, demonstrating a willingness to support colleagues in other agencies and ensure continued quality in the internal audit operations of the state.

Jack currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Raleigh-Durham Local Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, volunteering at chapter events and trainings. He also regularly serves as a guest speaker for national auditing and accounting conferences and training courses and local university accounting classes.
His ability to lead team projects and take on additional responsibilities, even those outside his regular scope of duties, set him apart as a key player in the internal auditing community.

The Internal Audit Award of Excellence is presented annually to internal auditors who go above and beyond their normal duties to contribute to the success of their teams and to the broader field of internal auditing. Nominees are selected from across the state by the Council of Internal Audit, ensuring that only the most outstanding auditors are chosen for this distinction. Winners receive a plaque and a $500 prize, provided by the North Carolina Local Chapters of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
