Firearm Recovered After a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 7:47 PM, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Kenneth Bigsby-Williams, 28, of Everett, on firearm charges.

An officer was on patrol in the area of Norfolk Street and Talbot Avenue when he observed a motor vehicle operating the wrong way on a one way street on Whitfield Street. The officer immediately activated his marked cruiser's emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

The vehicle continued to travel down the wrong way and struck a curb in a parking lot at 305 Talbot Avenue. The officer made contact with the occupants and requested their licenses and registration. As the officer was conducting an inquiry of the information, he observed the operator exit the vehicle and close the door before sitting on the curb.

The officer determined that the vehicle's registration was suspended and would need to be towed. With the assistance of responding officers, a motor vehicle inventory search was conducted. Officers observed a firearm inside the vehicle, and the suspect immediately fled the scene. A foot chase ensued and officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the area of 60 Southern Avenue.

The firearm was later determined to be a Kimber Micro 9 Crimson with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.

Bigsby-Williams was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Offense, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
