NOFD on the Scene of a Level 1 Hazardous Materials Incident

The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) is on the scene of a
Level I Hazardous Materials incident at 4325 France Rd. (formerly Trinity Yachts). On
Friday, September 6, 2024, around 9:30 p.m., two suspects were arrested at this
location by Port of NOLA Harbor Police after being found in possession of approximately
one pound of methamphetamine (meth). A further search of this relatively large twostory,
commercial structure produced what is believed to be the components of a meth
lab on the second floor of the building. These findings prompted the request for the New
Orleans Fire Department's (NOFD) Hazardous Materials Unit (Haz-Mat) to respond to
the scene. Subsequently, the New Orleans Police Department's Bomb Squad, the
Federal Bureau of Investigations, and the Drug Enforcement Administration have all
responded to assist with the mitigation of this incident. More NOFD personnel and
resources have also been dispatched should decontamination of response personnel
become necessary. This is currently still an active incident, and more information will be
forthcoming as the investigation proceeds.
