GBI Investigates Death in Henry County

Henry County, GA (August 17, 2024) - At the request of the Spalding County Sheriff's Office, GBI agents are investigating the death of Wayne Fuller, age 44, of Macon, GA.

On Friday, August 16, 2024, at about 2:00 p.m., a Spalding County Sheriff's Office deputy received a be on the lookout for a carassociated with a homicide in Bibb County. As the information was coming in, the deputy observed the car in question drive past him, and the deputy attempted to initiate a stop. At that time, the car drove away from the deputy, and the deputy pursued the car into Henry County where other agencies assisted with the pursuit. The deputy performed a PIT maneuver to end the pursuit. As deputies and officers approached the car, they observed blood on the inside of the car and suspected the driver may have been injured or dead. When deputies reached the car, it was confirmed that the driver was Fuller, the person being sought in the murder investigation. Fuller was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputies and officers did attempt to give Fuller medical aid, but hewas pronounced dead on the scene. No deputies or officers were injured during the incident.

Fuller's body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation into the incident. Once complete, the case will be given to the Henry County District Attorney's Office for review.
