DECLARATION

LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY
WARE COUNTY

Hurricane Helene

WHEREAS, Hurricane Helene is forecasted to make landfall in the evening on Thursday, September 26, 2024, on the Florida gulf coast and projected to travel northward through Georgia and;

WHEREAS, The National Hurricane Center forecasts Hurricane Helene may produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding in the State of Georgia, and;

WHEREAS, in the judgement of the County Commission that assistance from Ware County is necessary to provide for the public's safety, protect public and private property, and maintain the social and economic welfare of its citizens, including individuals with household pets and service animals, and;

WHEREAS, to prevent or minimize injury to people and damage to property resulting from this event,

NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me by state and local law;

IT IS HEREBY DECLARED that a local state of emergency exists and shall continue until the conditions requiring this declaration are abated.

WHEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that the local emergency plan is hereby activated as of 8:00 a.m., this the 26th day of September, 2024.
