Explore sessions at Greenbuild that will focus on reaching ESG goals.

ESG (environmental, social and governance) factors are taken into account by people or companies when making investments so that they can put their money into stocks that will have a broader impact on the world and provide a financial return for the investor. Green building plays a part in meeting ESG goals by providing a framework for building projects that are more efficient, less polluting and healthier for their occupants. This track record has earned rating systems like LEED an important place in the rapidly evolving ESG reporting world.

As the global green building community's top space for learning, networking and sharing insights, Greenbuild 2024, "Built to Scale," will offer more than 100 sessions on the most critical topics in the industry. The conference will take place Nov. 12-15 this year in Philadelphia.

Take a look at a small sample below of opportunities to engage in discussions about ESG factors, reporting and current trends, and explore the full Greenbuild education program when you register to attend. You can sort by track, topic, learning level and more.

Sustainable Finance and the Built Environment Summit

Tuesday, Nov. 12

Greenbuild is launching five all-new, in-person summits in 2024. Each summit includes a keynote, a full day of sessions specifically designed for each topic and opportunities to network. Summits are available only to attendees with a Conference or Student pass.

We are witnessing a seismic shift in how companies are internally and externally evaluated and held accountable for ESG commitments and performance. This summit will inspire participants to envision a future where financial decisions actively contribute to sustainable and inclusive development. Participants can expect to deepen their understanding of the role green finance principles play in creating healthier and more resilient built environments, as well as in addressing economic aspects crucial to long-term positive change.

The Evolving Role of Chief Sustainability Officers

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

A rapid and dramatic transformation is happening in business leadership. This session brings together women CSOs and strategists to share their insider view of the trends in ESG and corporate strategy. From setting business strategy and capital allocation to engaging with stakeholders and gaining the support of resources and expertise throughout an entire organization, including the board and senior leadership team, topics discussed will be applicable to any sustainability leader. This session provides a perspective on current progress and helps leaders and business operations teams learn to actively demonstrate sustainability and climate leadership and employees in this space to rise to their full potential.

Spotting Opportunities: Investing in Resilience, Health, Equity and Sustainability

Thursday, Nov. 14, 1:45-2:45 p.m.

Sustainability practitioners have long faced arguments related to the "green premium." Yet the low price of a code-compliant building does not properly account for the cost of increased risks and the value of new opportunities. Sustainability professionals are poised to advocate for greater advances in resilience, health, equity and sustainability strategies, but they need the tools and talking points to do so. This presentation will walk attendees through a "pro forma" commercial building, while attendees gain concrete strategies for how to talk to clients about the value of investing in health, equity and resilience and about the true costs of inaction. Through the lens of a case study, the latest tools and research will be highlighted, along with intersections with third party certification programs, including LEED and WELL.
