Town of Pharsalia - Camp Pharsalia Demolition and Site Restoration

Negative Declaration

Chenango County - The New York State Department of Enviromental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Camp Pharsalia Demolition and Site Restoration will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the demolition of all buildings and structures at the former New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYS DOCCS) site known as Camp Pharsalia as well as hazardous building material remediation. All above ground facilities will be removed as well as any below ground facilities. This will necessitate the removal of tanks, wastewater treatment and/or septic systems as well as all foundations, slabs and all paved surfaces. Any hazardous materials found such as asbestos will be removed in compliance with State regulations and brought to a hazardous waste site for disposal. Following demolition and remediation, the site will be graded and restored to native grasses and/or replanted to forest. The State Forest access road will be resurfaced and graded, and a ditch will be constructed adjacent to it. The project is located in the Town of Pharsalia, New York.
