Sacramento - To increase outreach and engage with more people, the Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) is growing its social media presence to include Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. With these three additions, LCI can now connect with Californians on six social media accounts, also including YouTube, LinkedIn, and X -; with more growth possible in the future.
Recent data shows Facebook reporting 19 million Californians as active users (the most in the U.S.), and 2.9 billion globally. Adding this platform to LCI's social media presence will allow the agency to prioritize visual storytelling and connect its programs, grants, initiatives, and resources to a larger, more diverse audience.
With Instagram and Snapchat's reputations for appealing to younger demographics (ages 18-24), LCI is eager to utilize these platforms to engage with people using high quality photos, stories, and video reels.
The addition of these three platforms will also allow LCI and its grant awardees, partners from community-based organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, and other organizations to elevate each other's work and highlight collaborative community impacts that build on the Newsom Administration's California for All initiative. Content on the new platforms will include outreach from all LCI's programs, including: the California Strategic Growth Council, State Planning and Policy Development, the California Racial Equity Commission, and the Governor's Military Council.
Give the new LCI accounts a follow, and please reach out to the Communications and External Affairs team with collaborative content ideas at [email protected].
