City Achieves Gold Star Certification from Keep Texas Beautiful

League City was awarded "Gold Star Affiliate" certification this week during the Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) Conference. Gold Star recognition is the highest status any city can achieve from KTB, a statewide environmental and community improvement organization.

This is the first year League City has earned gold status for its efforts to address beautification, litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling, and the preservation and conservation of our community's natural environment.

Under the guidance and direction of the Keep League City Beautiful Committee-which is made up of residents appointed by the mayor-various programs and efforts have been implemented to clean up litter, educate residents, and beautify and enhance League City through conservation, preservation, and public art at City parks.

Some of the City's efforts in 2023 included the Clear Creek Cleanup, the Fall Sweep, the removal of invasive species at the Dick Benoit Prairie Preserve, the planting of native species at city facilities and parks, and EcoFest-an annual event where residents can receive free trees and learn more about conservation, recycling, native plants, pollinator gardens, and much more.
