LPD Investigates Fatal Crash in W. Lincoln | W. 'O' & Sun Valley Blvd.

UPDATE (July 22 - 9:30 a.m.) | The victim has been identified as 62-year-old John Wayne Gross of Lincoln.

UPDATE (July 20 - 4:25 p.m.) | Vanessa Nicole Williams, age 30, was determined to be the driver of a westbound vehicle on W. 'O' Street. A 62-year-old male pedestrian was seated on the raised center median just west of Sun Valley Blvd. and W. 'O' Street. The westbound vehicle crossed the raised center median, striking the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported, but died at the hospital.

Release of his information will be pending notification of his next of kin. Williams was determined to be under the influence of drugs, and was cited/lodged for felony motor vehicle homicide. Crash investigators have concluded their investigation at the scene, and all lanes of traffic are now open.

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on July 20, 2024.

At 11:46 a.m., the Lincoln Police Department and Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to Sun Valley Blvd. and W. 'O' Street after a pedestrian was struck by a westbound vehicle. The pedestrian, a 62-year-old male, was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Traffic on 'O' Street from Sun Valley Blvd. to Roundhouse Dr. is closed in both directions while LPD crash investigators work.
