APA Los Angeles Award of Merit for Palmdale Sustainable Transportation Plan

PALMDALE, CA - The City of Palmdale is thrilled to announce that it has received the 2024 Transportation Planning Award of Merit from the American Planning Association (APA) Los Angeles for its Sustainable Transportation Plan (STP).

Palmdale was one of two recipients in the Transportation Planning category. The City's STP aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through roadway improvements and amenities that enhance the safety and enjoyment of non-vehicular travel.

"What an exciting time it is to be a resident of Palmdale," said Mayor Austin Bishop. "This prestigious award is a testament to our investments in the City and our commitment to planning healthy, sustainable and inclusive transportation options."

This award was a collaborative effort with partners at Caltrans, Kimley-Horn, Vicus Planning, Arellano Associates and LSY Inc. Each year, APA's National Planning Awards honor planning efforts, initiatives and individuals dedicated to creating safer, stronger and more just communities.

"We are privileged to be recognized for our sustainability and inclusivity efforts," said Mayor Pro Tem Richard J. Loa. "This was a team effort, and I want to thank all our incredible partners for their hard work and dedication."
