NOAA Fisheries Announces Commercial Blueline Tilefish Fishery Closure
When 100 percent of the commercial blueline tilefish TAL has been harvested, the regulations at 50 CFR 648.295(b)(2)(ii) require that we close the commercial blueline tilefish fishery for the remainder of the year. Based on weekly landings from dealer reports and other information, we project that 100 percent TAL has been caught.
Effective September 23, 2024, no vessel may retain or land blueline tilefish in or from the Tilefish Management Unit (Figure 1) through December 31, 2024.
