City of Tampa Utilities staff will resume reading water meters by the end of the week, in an effort to provide as many customers as possible with updated utility bills.
Since mid-October, customers have been receiving estimated bills due to debris preventing staff from safely accessing water meters. Conditions are continuously improving, allowing staff members to access more meters and get an accurate account of our customers' water use. Customers whose water meters can be read, will receive an updated utility bill starting around the middle of November. These bills will reflect the customers' actual water use over the past two months.
While City of Tampa Utilities is actively working to transition back to normal operations, debris left behind by Hurricane Milton is still preventing staff members from accessing all water meters in our community. If a customer's meter remains inaccessible, they will receive a second estimated bill. When staff members are able to read that customer's water meter, customers will receive a bill that represents all of the usage during the impacted period. The usage will be balanced across the number of billing periods affected so that the billing tier rates are applied fairly.
Since customers may continue to receive estimated bills, City of Tampa Utilities will not be issuing late fees for any bills during this affected period. Customers who have any questions about their charges, can call our Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. They can also submit their questions online at tampaconnect.com.
City of Tampa Utilities staff members are dedicated to providing customers the best service possible, as the community continues to recover from Hurricane Milton. Staff members will continue to provide updates as they transition back to normal meter reading operations.
