Amy Ingram, associate professor of management at the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business, is passionate about her research in analyzing strategic leadership language and characteristics at an aggregate level and the political aspects of non-market activity. Over the past five years, Ingram's work has been cited 3,077 times (Google Scholar), demonstrating her impactful findings.

Her recent co-authored study, "Avoidance and Aggression in Stakeholder Engagement: The Impact of CEO Paranoia and Paranoia-relevant Cues," has been accepted for publication in the prestigious Academy of Management Journal and explores how CEO paranoia affects a company. Using computerized text analysis to connect the type of language CEOs use with personality traits, the researchers used aggregate indicators and econometrics to find that CEOs who tested higher for subclinical paranoia tended to avoid engaging in competition.

In addition to being committed to her research, she is also a member of the Strategic Management Society, Academy of Management, Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Beta Kappa and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In the past, she was awarded the Clemson Powers College of Business Emerging Scholar Award for Research Excellence in 2017 and the Powers Distinguished Fellows in 2021, which she recently renewed for this upcoming academic year. She is currently working as a contributing author to eight papers, including one studying the language female CEOs use and how it impacts their performance.

Craig Wallace, Department of Management Chair, speaks to Ingram's research and achievements. "Dr. Ingram is an elite scholar who does not shy away from rolling up her sleeves to provide significant leadership, serving the Academy and Clemson. She not only pushes the field forward, but she also pulls! This honor is well deserved."
