More than 735,000 inhabitants of the Province of Chaco benefit from security actions supported by CABEI

Buenos Aires, July 15, 2024.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Government of the Province of Chaco marked a milestone for the security of more than 735,000 inhabitants today, with the formalization of a US$15.0 million financing agreement for the development of the Social Investment Program for Citizen Security.

The program includes the construction of new police station buildings, a division specializing in gender violence, a police training institute, and border control posts, as well as facilities to improve emergency response. The installation of six penitentiary modules is also foreseen, which will provide rehabilitation opportunities for more than 2,300 inmates, who will be housed in dignified and humane conditions.

Community security will also be strengthened through new video surveillance technology, the procurement of specialized vehicles and equipment, and the creation of an innovative educational system that will favor the professionalization of security forces. More than 4,000 officers will receive training and equipment, enabling them to serve the community with greater efficiency and commitment.

The Governor of the Province of Chaco, Leandro Zdero; the Minister of Security, Hugo Matkovich; the Undersecretary of the House of Chaco in Buenos Aires, Mario Quijano; the National Director of Engagement with Regional Organizations, Silvia Pérez; the Undersecretary of International Financial Relations, Matías Mana, participated in the signing ceremony. CABEI was represented by Sebastian Tortorice, CABEI country manager.

With these actions, CABEI reaffirms its commitment to citizen security, the comprehensive development of people and their dignity, and working hand in hand with local authorities to build a safer future for the inhabitants of the province of Chaco.
