NORD Celebrates Quinn Gipson: A Rising Tennis Star and Scholar

Quinn Gipson, a standout 5th grader at Audubon Charter School, is making waves both in the classroom and on the tennis court. An 'A' student and top-tier athlete, Quinn trains with the prestigious A's & Aces - NORD tennis program at the Joe Brown Tennis Center, under the expert guidance of High-Performance Coach and A's & Aces Co-Executive Director Alvin Varnado Jr.

"Quinn has become quite a competitive player with excellent stroke production, great court coverage, and shot selection," said Varnado. "This hard work and dedication have propelled Quinn to impressive heights. Ranked as the #1 player in his graduating class in Louisiana and #15 among 10&Under players in the Gulf Coast States, Quinn has already broken into the top 20 of the Louisiana 12&Under division.

Quinn's most recent success came with a second-place finish at the American Tennis Association (ATA) National Championship in Orlando. The ATA, the oldest African American sports association in the U.S., serves as a fitting stage for Quinn to showcase his growing talent.

In addition to his achievements on the court, Quinn is also excelling academically. He was recently named the Louisiana winner of the 2024 NJTL Essay Contest in the Southern Section, an honor that underscores his dedication to his studies. As part of this recognition, USTA Southern will award Quinn with an all-expense-paid trip to attend the Charlotte, NC Invitational in December. This premier tennis event will feature world-class players including Carlos Alcaraz, Frances Tiafoe, Sloane Stephens, and Madison Keys - a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the young talent to observe tennis at the highest level.

"We are incredibly proud of Quinn's accomplishments," said Larry Barabino, Jr., CEO of NORD Commission. "His growth as a competitive player on the court, coupled with his academic excellence, showcases the positive impact sports can have on youth development. Quinn represents the bright future we envision for our young athletes, and we are honored to support him on this journey."

Quinn's achievements reflect the mission of A's & Aces and NORD, organizations dedicated to supporting young athletes as they balance academic and athletic success. As Quinn continues to rise, his story serves as an inspiration to his peers and young athletes everywhere.
