Median Crossover Project Scheduled to Begin on I-229 Near Exit 4 in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - On Monday, July 8, 2024, the modification of median crossovers and lane widening is scheduled to begin on Interstate 229 near exit 4 in Sioux Falls. The inside shoulders of both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-229 will be closed. As construction progresses, there will be additional lane and ramp closures. The project will also include construction of a temporary bridge in preparation for an interchange reconstruction at I-229 and exit 4 (Cliff Avenue) in 2025.

Motorists are reminded to use caution and reduce their speed while workers and equipment are present through the work zones.

The prime contractor on the $5.6 million project is Soukup Construction, Inc. of Sioux Falls, SD. The anticipated completion date of this preliminary work for the interchange reconstruction project is December 2024.
