SND Vision

As a designer based in Hong Kong who has navigated both Eastern and Western design cultures, I'm interested in supporting SND's global outreach efforts. I hope to help engage more designers from Asia and other regions who, like me, are active in the field but not yet closely connected with the society. I've noticed many talented local designers unaware of the organization, and I'd like to bridge this gap. My diverse background in newsroom infographics and commercial illustration encourages me to consider different approaches. This can range from something as simple as posting SND announcements in multiple languages on social media, to organizing events such as 30-minute live design competitions to create buzz in the industry. I'm excited about all the possible opportunities ahead.

Bio

Kaliz is a Hong Kong-based designer with expertise in newsroom infographics and commercial illustration, spanning print and digital media. During her decade in the newsroom, she has consistently explored diverse approaches to visual storytelling. Her team's data visualization work has received numerous awards, including SND Best in Show, WAN-IFRA Gold, and Malofiej Bronze. She currently serves as an assistant graphics editor at the South China Morning Post. Beyond her newsroom role, she undertakes projects for a variety of clients, including NGOs, government agencies, commercial brands, and cultural institutions. Her illustrations and graphic novels, often reflecting humanistic concerns and social issues, have been exhibited locally and internationally at venues like the Bologna Children's Book Fair, Hong Kong Lingnan University, and Vitra Design Museum.
