“Turismo delle radici” project: Deputy Prime Minister Tajani signs agreement between Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ITA Airways

Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the President of the Italian airline ITA Airways, Antonino Turicchi, will present tomorrow at the Farnesina the Agreement between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Italy's flagship airline, signed in the past few days as part of the "Turismo delle radici" project.

"Since the very beginning of my mandate, I have wanted to strengthen relations with Italian communities abroad, as well as the services dedicated to them, in order to encourage them to visit Italy, to discover their ancestors' places of origin," commented Tajani, who emphasised that "the special deals that will be offered by ITA Airways are a testament to the strong relationship between the Italian production fabric and Italian nationals and descendants around the world."

"This initiative will strengthen the bond between Italians living abroad and their homeland and offer them concrete advantages for rediscovering their Italian roots," said Antonino Turicchi, President of ITA Airways, who added that "ITA Airways is proud to support such a significant and far-reaching global project, thanks to its international and intercontinental network."

Negotiated within the framework of the "Italea Card" programme, also known as the "Roots Passport", the agreement will offer Italians and their descendants around the world preferential rates on air tickets. Users will be able to access the discounted fares through the italeacard.com website, where a dedicated box linking to the offer's page on the Airline's website will be provided. The Agreement, which strengthens a consolidated and structured institutional collaboration, also allows for the launch of joint promotional activities between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ITA Airways, in order to increase the visibility of the initiatives related to the "Turismo delle radici" initiative.

2024 is the Year of Italian Roots in the World: the agreement is proof that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ITA Airways have a shared desire to strengthen ties with the approximately 80 million people of Italian origin in the world.
