AMES, Iowa - Shari Plagge, Ames City Assessor, recently earned the Iowa State Association of Assessors (ISAA) award for 2024 Outstanding Member.
Plagge received the award at the ISAA Annual School of Instruction & Conference held this month. The award is given each year to a member who shows exemplary participation and dedication to ISAA and exudes remarkable leadership and integrity. Confidential nominations are made by members of ISAA, and the recipient is decided on by a voting committee. Plagge has been a member of ISAA since 2007.
"I am incredibly honored to receive this award from my peers at the Iowa State Association of Assessors," said Shari. "Being recognized this way was a complete surprise, and I will never forget this experience."
Plagge was appointed Ames Assessor in 2022. She served as the Assessor for Wright County, Iowa, since 2010, and has more than 20 years of experience in assessor's offices. She received the Iowa Certified Assessor (ICA) designation in 2012 from the Institute of Iowa Certified Assessors. She also received the Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES) designation in 2019 and the Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS) in 2020 from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO).
The mission of the Iowa State Association of Assessors is to promote excellence in property valuation by providing fair and equitable assessments for property owners and local governments in Iowa.
