On August 6, Viterra employees on strike since May 26 travelled by bus from Bécancour to the Port of Montreal to take part in a mobilization action in front of their employer's offices. Around a hundred people gathered for the event, including members of other locals who had come to lend their solidarity.

The event began with a short march to Viterra's offices. Once there, Quebec Director Daniel Cloutier took the stand to reaffirm the strikers' demands. Daniel Cloutier then entered the Port offices to attempt to deliver a letter to the Viterra employees working there, with the intention of raising their awareness of the ongoing conflict.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who came out to support the striking employees. Your solidarity and support are essential and deeply appreciated.

The strike, involving some 80 employees at the Viterra plant in the Bécancour industrial park, continues as negotiations remain deadlocked. The last meeting between the two parties, held on August 5, lasted just fifteen minutes, without making any significant progress.

For the time being, the positions of both parties remain unchanged. A new bargaining meeting is scheduled for August 22.
