Leading Colleges presents Alvernia with 2024 Recruitment Award

Recognition highlights Alvernia's innovative and effective recruitment strategies

Alvernia University earns the 2024 Leading Colleges Recruitment Award, recognizing the institution's achievements in student recruitment and enrollment management. This accolade, awarded by Leading Colleges to just 37 institutions nationwide, celebrates institutions that demonstrate innovative and effective strategies to attract and enroll students.

The 2024 Leading Colleges Recruitment Award highlights Alvernia University's commitment to expanding access to higher education and supporting student success through comprehensive recruitment initiatives. Alvernia stood out among other recipients for its strategic approach to student engagement, use of cutting-edge technology, and dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive campus environment.

"This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our enrollment management team," said Alvernia Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Mary-Alice Ozechoski. "We are committed to ensuring that every student who chooses Alvernia receives the support and resources they need to thrive academically, personally, and professionally."

Alvernia's recruitment efforts during the 2023-2024 academic year were particularly successful, with a significant increase in applications and campus visits. The university implemented several key initiatives to enhance its recruitment strategy, including personalized outreach to students and families, forward-thinking workshops around college affordability and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) changes, and expanded partnerships with high schools and community organizations.

Even before the university's largest open house in February, more students had visited Alvernia during this school year than at this point in each of the past five years. Attendees traveled from six states and two countries, with one family in attendance making the trek from Paraná, Brazil.

Over the last four years, Alvernia has welcomed the largest incoming classes of first-year and transfer students while growing its international student population from under five to over 100 and recording the second-highest number of full-time students in 2022. Despite the campus footprint expansion, the university's residence halls have remained at 90% occupancy or better.
