2024 Flood Response

07.01.24
This afternoon, our partners at the National Weather Service revised the forecasted crest for the Mississippi at Lock and Dam 15 to 20 FT, arriving on Sunday, July 7. Staff is actively implementing flood defense measures for the anticipated crest.

Quite a bit will change over the coming week. Sand and sandbags are now available to individuals impacted up to stage 20 FT. To request sand and sandbags, call Public Works at 563.326.7923, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through Wednesday.

Closures will be made as water continues to consume more of the riverfront and roads. Please do not walk or drive through flood water or move or go around barricades. Barricades are placed for your safety. What may not seem hazardous at the start could lead to an underwater destination with unknown hazards, such as the absence of paved surfaces and the presence of bacteria and other floodwater-related hazards.
